What wonders God has done in every age! We must remember them, and teach our children and grandchildren to do the same. That's why EvangeliNation, the retreat podcast series dedicated to celebrating our Catholic Christian faith, exists. That's why I am sharing the treasures of our Catholic faith with you. I hope you will listen, enjoy the eternal mystery of it, and pass this on to someone you love.
Today's episode is a mini-retreat reflection on the Blessed Virgin Mary's role in salvation history, and in particular, how both Joseph and Mary cooperated with divine grace in their unique state of being espoused virgins consecrated to the service of the Lord. Mary and Joseph consecrated and devoted their lives to the protection, sustenance, providence, and nurturing of Jesus' life from his infancy and childhood to his holy and heroic manhood. . . and don't think that their devotion stopped there, as we shall hear about in subsequent episodes! Keep in mind that there is no Body of Christ, save that which has drawn its flesh and blood from the person of Mary. As such, Mary is our mother too, for are we not the Body of Christ? To be born again in Spirit and in Truth, Mary's assistance is invaluable, as it is she whose role it is to give birth to the Messiah by the express will of the Eternal Father. Bringing this Word Made Flesh to the world is the role of an evangelizer, what all the baptized faithful are called to be. Let us, like Mary, bring Christ into the world today in all we do and think and say, and let's let Mary help us give birth to Him anew. Blessings! |
